Old Song Sunday
Picked this LP up for a fiver a couple of weeks back, really good condition but it certainly won't stay that way. Getting heavy rotations of late, there's something special about putting on a funk record of that calibre and bumping it loud for all to hear. On a more up to date note Tropic Culture returns to Sin in Ipswich tomorrow, I'm not playing but I'll most probably be drinking ;-)

The Saga Continues
After many months waiting in the wings I've decided it's time for a triumphant return to 2010 with another Pubstep Garden Party! Believe it or not the first event was this time last year so it's a birthday celebration and to mark the occasion we've got a super nice lineup and another badboy design from Sam Peet. Flyers hit the streets next weekend and the mega limited mixtape (actually on a tape) will be available on the night ONLY. Get on the links below for the facebook & more info or email me (address on the left) if you've got any questions!

Old Song Sunday
Holding up the LP at the start, how cool is that!?
I was actually gonna post Funk It Up by Ceaser Frazier cos I forgot to play it at Friday's Birthday Bash (which was a right good knees up, thanks to all who attended) but embedding had been disabled, almost as disabled as Si's cake decorating.....
Happy Birtday Boys!

Celebration Station
This week our disco/rap/funk/house/etc. night "Just a Groove" returns to The Cock&Pye in Ipswich town centre for the first time since September. As you may have guessed it's somebodies birthday and we're gonna be tearing down the house with all kind of flavours! I'm gonna be concentrating on the disco & funk elements, we've got our good friend Si on his Groove debut bussing out the hiphop jams and Lay will be doing a bit of indie along with some house & trance; proper mixed bag from us boys & real nice of Aido let us DJ on such an occasion!
Peep our facebook group for these events and please don't hesitate to join, I keep spam levels down to a bare minimum.
Presents and cake welcome and encouraged!

Roska, Roska, Roska...
Roska's got a new album coming out & a new vidjo by Monsta. Someone who's artwork will probably be worth a few quid one day, damn, I really should buy some.

Not the most obvious of love songs, but Happy Valentines anyway, and remember every day should be a love day!

Short & Sharp
Zomby just posted another free track with Actress. If you missed the last two, grab them from FactMag, otherwise check this out.

Also I'm gonna recommend this mix from garage legend Duncan Powell without even listening to it. Been doing a lot on Whistla's L2S Recordings of late and I'm sure this'll be the mutts nutts. I'll give it a listen on route to Reading tonight, info on that event in the previous post.

Bits & Bobs
Ok first off I'd like to say congats to Truth for not only being 3 years deep in this promotion thing but also for putting on another dope hiphop show and cobbling a half decent band together in the process! To be honest if I ever get married I'm gonna book Millionaires By Morning for a rap covers set, Common's 'The Light' had me signing along on my own, and their funked up version of Truth's 'Pass It' was also another highlight. Jack Flash I have to say gave the most professional performance of the night, he was the most concise with his mic and after spraying over an array of beats and tempos the crowd definitely should've showed a bit more appreciation. Stig did his usual shouty thing and then didn't come to Krazy Kitchens with us, which by the way, is THE best kebab shop in The IP. They even do falafel with feta cheese and olives, suck on that vegetarians!
The next evening saw me and Deafman go back to back on an old skool garage flex in Fire on the warmup for Devlin. To be honest I'm not normally a fan of playing that club but the boys sorted some decent monitors and an alright system so fair cop. They'd also brought in the newest Pioneer CDJs (2000s I believe) and boy did they look shiny and expensive, I only took vinyl so I can't give you a review on those I'm afraid, by the looks of things you'd need a good session to get used to all the features. Zeuts used them but the same way he'd use the 1000s 800s or 400s so couldn't gimmie any more info! I got there early and was kinda bored and broke by the time Devlin came on but I did stay to watch a couple of tracks including 'London City' (which he changed to 'Ipswich City' - we're a town mate, do your research!). The crowd we're showing love but I'm guessing Cloud 9 lost a few heads when they changed headliner from Newham Generals, anyway it's nice to see some underground music pulling 200 or so people into a club in Ipswich, Troopa wants to get me more involved with the nights so we'll see how it pans out over the next few months.
This wednesday see's me DiDi and Deafman orbit half the M25 to reach Reading on some 3 way DJ pissup, we're on right after Nero so a real good slot to get, and I think we're gonna do another hour earlier on in the night, we're likely to play funky, dubstep, garage and jungle so if that tickles your fancy come join the Ipswich massive on tour!

Shh Hut Yuh Muh
Had the wheels in motion for a little while but it's all booked finalised now. Ed helped me out with the venue (he's been running indie night Furry there for ages now) and as you can see he'll be handling one side of our headphone filled dancefloor. I'll be tearing up the vinyl and serato on the other, a lot more of a mainstream set than usual but still with plenty of flavour and strictly NO R&B! Get over to the faceache on the link below!

Tonight Tonight....
Gonna be spinning at this one tonight, check the link below for all the small print. Although I'm not sure if they're giving free shots out as some jobsworth at the council got wind of it (through facebook!) and put a stop to it last week. Oh well if you're in the area scoot by and say hello, I'll be cobbling some CD mixes together as the boys decided they can't be arsed to bring Technics down, frowny face for them :(

Old Song Sunday
Cheating on this one, got back from London late and felt knackered last night, but when I got in BBC4 were playing bits of the Andy Williams show including this duet with Tony Bennet. Luckily for you some old crooner had put the same clip on youtube, sorry its not a record from my collection but hey, you can't mess with the classics!
Big up to Aaron and everyone else at Woofer Attack, just stay clear of the £10.40 double jagerbombs!
